Specialist in Balayage Highlights

Balayage is a hair coloring technique which is designed to create very natural-looking highlights which grow out without developing a noticeable and obvious root, Balayages (Baliage in the US) a way of highlighting the hair without foils when the colorist uses their skill to paint the highlights on in specific places. This is not a talent many people have because of the difficulty…you have it or you don’t. When hair is colored with the balayage process, the highlights are painted on by hand in a sweeping motion which moves from the base to the tip of the hair. At the base, the color is applied very lightly, while at the tip, the color is very heavy. The result is a chunky highlight which looks naturally sunbleached, and as the hair grows out, the root will be concealed for the first few months by the thinner color applied to the base of the hair. Performing balayage is time consuming, and it requires a good eye and a very steady hand. However, many people feel that the end result is worth it. Unlike foiled highlights, which look very uniform and a bit unnatural, hair which has been subjected to balayage simply looks like it has been out in the sun.

Tip #1

The best at home "treatment" for your hair is the natural oil your scalp produces. It can not be replicated! Invest in a board bristle brush and brush your hair every night. Pulling out the oil from your scalp is the best treatment ever...and it is free!

Tip #2

Stop sleeping on your hair. The friction with your hair in between your body and mattress will tatter your hair ends. Tie it in to a bum on top of your head or wrap in a scarf.

Tip #3

Avoid shampooing daily If you must wash your hair every day, wash your scalp only, not your hair. this will save your color, keep your hair from drying out and save money from over shampooing.

Tip #4

Avoid rubber bands, metal clips and base ball caps or any other item that causes a "pulling" on your hair to avoid hair breakage.

Tip #5

Get your hair trimmed at least every 8 weeks. this will keep your ends clean and smooth.

Tip #6

Hydrate your hair based on the climate you live in. For example, Women who live in Los Angeles should "hydrate" the hair because of the arid desert climate.

Tip #7

If you often blow dry and process your hair with flat irons, curling irons or hot rollers your hair is probably ready for a break. All that heat and processing can leave your hair dry, brittle and very damaged. Give your hair a much needed break and let it air dry naturally. Think of it as a vacation for your hair.

Tip #8

If Your Hair Is Curly: Since your hair is prone to dryness, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. After washing, gently blot hair dry with an absorbent towel and apply 4 to 6 drops of silicone-based shine serum (the thicker your hair, the more you can use). Detangle hair with fingers, and allow it to air dry.

Tip #9

If Your Hair Is Wavy: Lather up with a shine-enhancing shampoo and conditioner. Rinse well. Smooth and separate wet strands with wide-tooth comb, then spritz a silicone-based shine-enhancing spray from ends to roots. Dry hair using a blowdryer with a tapered nozzle to direct air down the hair shaft and seal the cuticle.

Tip #10

If Your Hair Is Straight: Your hair tends to lie flat against your scalp, where it can accumulate shine-dulling grease. To avoid this, use a deep-cleaning shampoo daily and apply a clarifying gel treatment to roots once a week to prevent oil buildup. After blowing hair dry, use a flatiron to enhance sheen. .

Tip #11

Have shiny hair Did you know that your hair needs Vitamin E for shine? You can get this much needed vitamin by incorporating brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables into your diet.

Tip #12

Stress: the universal culprit Apparently stress can affect your hair as well. Any tension/stress can bring about disorders of the scalp . This could be a cause of the dandruff you have been fighting...
